Early Recognition and Management of Fabricated or Induced Illness (FII) and Perplexing Presentations (PP) +

Course Aims: To outline the dynamics underlying FII so as to enable professionals to recognise and manage PP and FII, and to minimise harm.

Learning objectives:

  • Distinguishing between the need for immediate protection and a more open and measured approach

Prevent Training +

The WRAP training is designed by HM Government for any staff, front line staff, managers and specialised employees who are based in any of the listed “specified authorities”:

  • Local authorities
  • Schools and Registered Childcare Providers (excluding higher and further education)
  • Further education
  • Higher education
  • The Health Sector
  • Prisons and probation (including under 18 secure environments)
  • The Police

People subject to the Prevent duty will be expected to demonstrate activity in the following areas:

  • assessing the risk of children being drawn into terrorism.
  • demonstrate that they are protecting children and young people from being drawn into terrorism by having robust safeguarding policies.
  • ensure that their safeguarding arrangements take into account the policies and procedures of the Local Safeguarding Children Board.
  • make sure that staff have training that gives them the knowledge and confidence to identify children at risk of being drawn into terrorism, and to challenge extremist ideas which can be used to legitimise terrorism
  • expected to ensure children are safe from terrorist and extremist material when accessing the internet

SCR Workshop +

The learning event will be opened by the HSCP Independent Chair, David Archibald and speakers will include senior Leaders across the Partnership.

Target Group: This half day workshop is aimed at practitioners and managers in Children’s Services, health providers, education, voluntary, independent and other relevant agencies who work predominantly with children, young people and/or their parents/carers and who could contribute to assessing, planning, intervening and evaluating the needs of a child and parenting capacity where there are safeguarding concerns.

Course Aim: To provide participants with the opportunity to explore learning from serious case reviews and learning reviews. This will include findings from local investigations and will consider the implications for local practice in Haringey across the Safeguarding Children’s Partnership.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the workshop participants will have:

  • Considered lessons from serious case reviews, learning reviews and the implications for practice
  • Examined information sharing in a multi-agency context

Signs of Safety half day briefing sessions +

Dates: 22nd November 2021 & 11th February 2022 9am - 1pm
