Family Group Decision Making
Family Group Decision Making (FGDM) is the overarching approach that brings together a range of family-led planning methods including Family Group Conferences (FGCs) and Family Network Meetings (FNMs).
At its core, it is about working more consistently with families and their networks to develop plans that are owned and sustained by those closest to the child.
We have agreed our Practice Standards, these set out how we aim to work with families in Haringey, helping them find their own answers to challenges that may affect their child’s safety or wellbeing.
These standards will continue to be updated as we agree any new approaches, such as how we will deliver Family Network Support packages. These are flexible, preventative financial and practical packages that remove barriers for extended family members who may be supporting a child, allowing a child to live safely with birth parents or within the wider kinship network instead of entering the care system.
